INCREDIBLE LASER **Read This Review** June 25, 2010 JesseTime 27 out of 33 found this review helpful
This laser is simply incredible! I was not expecting much for a $12 laser, but it was FAR BETTER Than I expected, this laser is better than some $150 lasers!
IF YOU READ NEGATIVE REVIEWS:
- The negative reviews say the laser dies out quickly, and gets dull after a few minutes of use:
-It was because they did not use ENERGIZER ADVANCED LITHIUM BATTERIES!
- Some say the beam is not a true 50mw, a few even claim the beam is as low as 10mw
-Alkaline batteries, like the factory ones, limit the laser to ~20mw
- The standard batteries are basic alkaline, YOU MUST CHANGE THEM
-These will cause the laser to get dull and dim within a few minutes of use!
-If you use alkaline batteries, like the ones that come with it, it outputs only 22mw, and is disappointing...
WHEN YOU USE LITHIUM BATTERIES
- OVER 50mw
- Beam is SOLID, DAY or NIGHT
- Easily pops balloons
- Easily cuts garbage bags
The negative reviews are written by inexperienced, first time laser buyers! This laser is a TRUE 50mw (with lithium batteries). The laser is ACTUALLY factory tuned, the potentiometer is set to the highest rating!
PROS:
* Constant Sustained 50mw Output, (roughly 22mw with the factories batteries)
* Beam is EASILY visible, day or night
* The diode outputs a clear and bright laser beam
* Factory Tuned, thus, you don't need to adjust the settings by taking it apart
* Solid Metal/Rubber casing, the laser is VERY durable
* Shines to clouds, without a problem
* Bonus LED flashlight and cleaning cloth included
CONS:
* Batteries only last 1-2 hours of use, and Lithium batteries arent very cheap
* Slight "halo" around beam, its not focused perfectly
* Button sticks every once and while, just tap the laser against a table to unstick it
All in all, this is THE BEST Laser on this site for this price, the beam is ALWAYS visible, its crisp and clear. The Laser is A TRUE 50mw, and works like you would hope, but you MUST USE LITHIUM BATTERIES. Alkaline batteries will disappoint you!
BUY THIS LASER!
BEST LASER EVER!!! February 10, 2010 Rob (S FL) 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
I have always loved owning and playing with those little red laser pointers you get at an arcade or like at Walmart, they are usually 1mW. I received my 50 mW green laser pointer today, very fast shipping, came in 3 days, it came in a nice black case, and had a free led keychain light which is really bright, and when i took the laser out, popped some lithium batteries in, I WAS AMAZED! I can see the laser on things hundreds of feet away in broad daylight, it is super bright during the day and i can see the beam too! I cant wait to try it tonight, the sticker on it says 50 mw, I heard that other people had gotten their lasers and the sticker said like 30 mW or 40 mW, but mine says 50 mW, and I put the laser in my laser mW reader and it came out reading 60.7 mW, no wonder this thing is so bright!! I also have this neighbor with a 30 mW green laser pointer that he got for like $300, well for 20 bucks the laser I got blows his laser away, it says the laser has a lifetime of 3000+ hours, well when that is done then ill just get another one. There are lots of green lasers online for like $100-$1000+ that range from 15 mW to 300 mW, while they are all probably pretty good, a 50 mW green laser with a full metal body for 20 bucks is just unheard of, thank you Amazon for your amazing deals, and to the people that made this laser, thank-you for making such a great high quality laser pointer. I give this laser a 5/5!
50mw , factory tuned , green laser December 7, 2009 Mo Bevmo (central California) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have bought and built many lasers, including a 300mw burner red laser diode build ( using dvd sled diodes ) and 80mw economy blu-ray build , I've had those on Youtube and a couple of web sites. I saw this ad and thought that if it was only 15 - 20 true mw , I still couldn't build it for that price and it'd look better than my home brew jobbies. I ordered the slightly more expensive " factory tuned " model hoping for a " better quality " hand selected unit. It came quickly ( only a few days ) and I opened it's nice box / case and took it out and installed the batteries. it blinked off and on intermittently. I opened it up and " carefully " adjusted the spring battery contact and reinstalled the batteries and tried it again. it worked great and had an impressive beam for only two little AAA batteries. I got out my laser power meter and fired the laser into the sensor and was surprised to see a whopping 71.6mw showing on the meter. this is an impressive power for this type of device. I'm VERY pleased with my laser and I consider it an amazing bargain for the price. a note of caution tho: this is a SERIOUS laser that easily burns black electrical tape and IS NOT a toy. standard laser safety handling precautions should be followed when using this laser. like some laser ads say " this should not be used as a pointer or for entertainment " or IMHO by people under the age of 18 without supervision. thanks
two Youtube videos of this laser exist. search " monster amazon.com laser "
Amazing Purchase and Product March 6, 2010 Connor Carlson (Washington State) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've always loved laser pointers growing up and I still love them today and at first I was pretty sceptical about buying this laser but when it arrived in the mail today I was blown away how bright and powerful it is! Even during the daylight! I highly recommend this laser to anyone who wants to buy a good and powerful laser pointer. I couldn't be any happier with this purchase 5/5 stars. To anyone who's reading the comments wondering if they should get it or not. I say BUY THIS LASER it's not even close to disappointing and it's also a great value. This laser however should NOT be used as a toy! I'm not saying that just to repeat the manufactures warning. This thing can probably blind you if you stare directly into it. Notes and recommendations below!
- I highly recommend using Energizer Lithium Batteries.
- Very very bright, if you point it at a ceiling in a dark room it will light up the room.
- The most amazing price I've ever seen for a laser like this!
- Great battery life.
- It will pop a balloon if you draw a dark circle on it with a Sharpie!
- Great for astronomy and pointing out stars at night.
- Clearly visible beam during daylight(indoors) and at Night.
- Melts through a black garbage bag.
- Lights matches if you draw black Sharpie on the match head.
All my notes and recommendations are from what I personally have tested and witnessed with the laser I received from Amazon. I also have no idea why black sharpie makes it burn easier but try it. If anyone knows the answer to that it would be awesome to know. Thanks!
Top Stuff! February 23, 2010 D. Gibbard (Essex, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Top make things quick and simple;
- As other people have mentioned, the beam does sometimes dim after a few seconds of use; this was rectified by using Energiser Lithium batteries.
- The beam is clearly visible at night, and most daytime senarios.
- The dot remains visible; and i am yet to find a distance at which i can't see it without pointing it into space.
- Not too bad for battery life, dependant on use; general mucking about will see the battery last over two weeks- minor use is naturally alot longer
- Excellent built quality
- Uses AAA batteries, cheap and easy to replace (but would recommend lithium based batteries!)
- All my mates were thoroughly impressed!
- Buy it. For the money it is simply amazing; there are some suppliers out there that re-label lower grade products; i can confirm that the unit i received was 'as purchased' at ~50mW- or at least from what i care!
